We had an early one last night, as we stopped drinking at last orders <mad>

Nearly home, stopped off at The Whitby Pie Shop. Seemed rude not to.

Is the Harry Ramsden's chippy still there? We had one in Salford, but it's long gone. :-(

Just had a look online. I may have had a 'mature moment' there ;) the original was apparently in Scarborough.

Just a note to say that Paul's 'tribal charges' house rule is such a good idea I've made it official.

Well Peeler and I have finally made landfall in East Ayton, after a long and gruelling voyage back from the Caledonian Hinterlands, fighting our way through massed ranks of ferocious haggisses, marauding furry cattle and looming wind turbines. We were forced to renew our super powers by a return visit to the illustrious Humble Pie shop at Whitby, thus refreshed we forged on towards downtown EA.
What an excellent weekend, with an excellent bunch of chaps, gentlemen all. A glorious venue, possibly the classiest place I have ever wargamed. A delightful Bed and Breakfast, and very entertaining evenings, most of which were spent trying to drag Peeler and EB out of the pub!
Highlights, the 1st Braunschweig Cuirassiers charging into the pages of glory for their last time under my command and wiping out Theobalds Cuirassiers. Sadly the melee was so furious both regiments died to a man, but their legend will go down into the annals of Imagihistory. Fabulous terrain, and a good hard fight, with nary a dispute and not a single harsh word. Huzzah.
Quote of the weekend, from General E Pickled "Oh crap there's an elephant."

Bravo Paul, and hearty thank you from me for a superb weekend, I would not want to have been anywhere else.
They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We shall be victorious.

I've just this second got home (no pie stops for me). kin' 'ell, I'm bollixed! I don't know which contributed most to my condition - the two day wargames work-out or three nights of being Peelered.

What a marvellous weekend and what splendid company. Many thanks to all.

Particular thanks to Paul for organising the game, for inviting me into his home and for the generous hospitality; to Tim for trying at least to get Peeler and me home before daylight; to LT for the lift to the station; to Mark, Tim and LT for being such worthy opponents; to The Count for his inspirational insults; and, finally, to Peeler for finally agreeing to leave a pub at closing time.

High spots: The charge of the Theobald Cuirassiers in response to the challenge from the 1st Braunschweig Cuirassiers. Having been taken aback by the ferocity of those noble (and very pretty) fellows the Theos fell on them, pushed them back and made them see the error of their ways. Honours being equal both regiments withdrew to a safe distance (what was left of them).

And, the look of satisfaction on LT's face when he finally managed to see off the Gamekeepers and their apparently very irritating feathered hats.

Low point: The Boleyn Regiment being taken in the flank by a really miffed elephant (which was The Count's fault).

Brilliant weekend.

Would have been worse if it had taken them in the rear.

The venue (!) :-O

The room (!!)

(sorry about the sunshine flare - wasn't expecting that phenonema this far north of Hadrian's Wall).

As other's have said - a fantastic weekend in fantastic company at a fantastic venue. My verdict - fantastic <b1> . The real truth about EB's elephant molesting, Peeler's failure to subdue 4 nudists with pointy sticks despite using a genadier battalion, Mark's use of the First Volley bonus and the lonely Zulu commander on my little pony will have to wait until I've completed doctoring the photographs.

Especially for a vegetarian!

That looks like a cracking venue, with plenty of atmosphere. Can it be dismantled and rebuilt at Ayton, by any chance?

Left home at 06:10. Arrived in good time to catch the 08:00 kings Cross service to Edinbugh.

It's now 09:24, the 08:00 has morphed into the 09:00 and I'm still on platform 4 at Kings Cross!

I may be late.

Iain

Lying Gippo ,bet you took a wrong turn again and you're somewhere in the Kalahari :))

I did try on Friday to address your outrageous suggestion, bro, but I wasn't able to repeat my earlier success with technology. Same goes for your quip about being at the wrong station, Mr Goat. <rude>

Oh, nearly forgot - thanks to LT for the pie he brought me, awarded for services rendered elsewhere, much appreciated :)

And, I also have to say the word Handbags.

Ah well. Drove home yday with Tim, worked a thankfully quiet nightshift, came home, had tea & fag with the good Mr Hall & he's just gone off towards Sunny Suffolk.

Sigh. Shrug. So that's this much enjoyed weekend totally over. :-(

Still, at least I managed to rob EB's figures from Tim's car before he left. I'll start rebasing them this afternoon, they'll go nicely with the 200 or so plastic S/S that CB kindly & cheaply sold me. :d
