I ran a participation game once where the game ran all day with a core of players but others dropped in for a few turns commanding a Unit or group of Units. This seemed to be the best way of handling the problem of wanting a big sweeping game but allowing for people who didn't want to commit too much time.

Agree with Paul, having a bit if experience running kids games its a fine balence between having a few really enthused people who can help with the drop in and outers. Too many drop ins can be hard work and the rules and game get lost in explanation.

I'd be very interested to see the Vietnam game! I know someone who would probably want to be in for that, probably more than the 18th Cen game.

I am always arguing about the rules - and I wrote them.

Arguing isn't so bad- it's when you start cheating that you need to worry.

Worry, it really pisses me off when my opponent cheats!

Tempting to whack him one.

So would these be non-participation games? #-O

I can see a problem here. You know how you always get those games where the players deliberately spend their time talking to each other in order to avoid contact with annoying members of the public who show an unwanted interest...... [-(

In the case of my games, it's because we just don't like you. :))

If I can make it (a possibility), there's no way to bring figures from OZ.

Does this make my attendance moot?

No it doesn't - there'll be plenty of 'spare' commands in the 18thC bash & other games you can join into. So long as you bring beer vouchers you can come figureless.

Ochoin may have lost the buff figure of youth, but to describe him as figureless is a bit harsh! [-X

Henry normally has spare figures and I'll have a smallish command of 3 Regts. of Spencer Smiths available if someone tells me in advance they're needed!

If you promise to shoot at GM and not me you can have half of my figures, Donald. I hope you have better luck with them against him than I do.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Well VB brings figures from NZ, but he's a medical man and probably has a special technique for storing them.

Probably explains why half his baggage allowance is tubs of Vaseline!

I don't think so
Donald is a Scot, he now lives in OZ [-X

Who in their right mind would live there :-?

Errgo - Donald must have been deported to OZ (probably for stealing washing off neighbours washing lines)
Errgo - Donald will be redeported, figures an all :d

Ah, but Donald started off in Glasgow (a place that, by his own admission, people fled in order to fight in a war because it was safer), so I think we can attribute refugee status in this case.
